Accounts receivable aging

A list of unpaid invoices grouped by how long they have been outstanding.

An accounts receivable aging report lists every unpaid invoice grouped by age, commonly in buckets of current, 1 to 30 days past due, 31 to 60, 61 to 90 and over 90. It shows at a glance who owes you, how much and for how long, and it is the first document a lender or factor will ask for.

For a business with a long float, the aging report is the operating picture of the gap: the total is money earned and not yet collected, and the older buckets show where collection effort or paperwork fixes are needed. Reviewing it weekly, by customer, is one of the simplest habits that shortens days to payment without any financing.
